Life Processes- NUTRITIONS 1
TOPIC - LIFE PROCESSES
CLASS 10
Dear students,
Thank you for taking the first step and logging in! you are wonderful! 😊😊
LESSON 1
This is our first class for this chapter. At the end of the blog you will be able to:
1) Identify various life processes.
2) Know the importance of these processes.
3) Define nutrition.
4) Study the two main types of nutrition and distinguish between them.
Happy learning!
PLEASE COPY EVERYTHING IN YOUR BIOLOGY NOTEBOOK EXCEPT THAT WHICH IS WRITTEN IN RED. KEEP YOUR NCERT WITH YOU FOR ANY REFERENCE.INTRODUCTION
HOW DO WE KNOW THAT AN ORGANISM IS ALIVE?
If an organism shows any kind of movement, we say that the organism is alive.
Animals move, breathe (chest moves up and down) - they are alive.
What about plants? - there is no visible movement - they are green.
Molecular movements are needed for life- building up processes - making of food , breaking down processes - food is digested, various cells move in the body etc. REFER TO PAGE 93 NCERT . READ IT.
LIFE PROCESSES- The processes which together perform the maintenance job and are essential for sustaining life are called life processes.
Nutrition, Respiration, Transportation, Excretion are important life processes.

LIFE PROCESSES- The processes which together perform the maintenance job and are essential for sustaining life are called life processes.
Nutrition, Respiration, Transportation, Excretion are important life processes.
For an organism to grow, food (raw materials) is required from outside. These outside raw materials are carbon based molecules. Hence nutrition is important.
READ PAGE 94.
NUTRITION –is a process by which living beings obtain food or synthesize it and change it into simple absorbable form by a series of biochemical processes.
TYPES OF NUTRITION
AUTOTROPHIC NUTRITION
1.Nutrition in which an organism makes its own food from simple inorganic materials
Like co2 and water.
2. It occurs in green plants.
HETEROTROPHIC NUTRITION
1.Nutrition in which an organism cannot make its own food, take in complex food
And break it down into simple forms Using enzymes.
2. It occurs in plants that lack chlorophyll,Insectivorous plants and animals.
I hope it helped, dear students. Please do the following assignment.
ASSIGNMENT ( ANSWERS FROM PAGE 95)
Q1) WHAT ARE AUTOTROPHS? GIVE TWO EXAMPLES.
Q2) WHAT ARE ENZYMES?
Q3) IN WHAT FORM DO PLANTS AND ANIMALS STORE THEIR FOOD ?
See you in the next class!
Take Care😊😊
