Control and Coordination Blog 5
CLASS 10 CHAPTER 7
CONTROL AND COORDINATION
Day 5
Day 5
Dear Learners,
Thank you for Logging in! You're wonderful!😊
Note: Content written in blue should be recorded as notes in the Biology Notebook.
At the end of this class, you will be able to:
1. Define the Endocrine system.
2. List different hormones, glands from which they are secreted, and their functions.
3. Estimate the location of these glands.
4. Explain the feedback mechanism with suitable examples.

Happy Learning!😊
ENDOCRINE SYSTEM/ HORMONAL SYSTEM:
It is a system that is made up of endocrine glands. It also controls the activities of animals along with nerves.
Endocrine Glands: These are ductless glands present in different parts of the body. They secrete hormones.
Hormones: Chemical substances secreted by endocrine glands directly in the blood.
(The following table is to be drawn in the bio notebook)
GLAND
|
HORMONE
|
FUNCTION
|
Hypothalamus
(supreme commander)
(located at the base of the brain near pituitary gland)
|
Neuro Hormones
|
It controls the secretion of hormones from the pituitary gland (master gland).
|
Pineal Gland
(present in the brain)
|
Hormone
|
It regulates the time mechanism of the body by which an organism controls regular activities like sleeping.
|
Thymus Gland
(present in the chest region, in between the lungs)
|
Thymosin Hormone
|
It protects the body from infection by maintaining the immune system.
|
(Add on the following Hormones to the above table, in total there are 10 glands)
(To be written in bio notebook)
