CLASS 10 CHAPTER 7
CONTROL AND COORDINATION
Day 4

Dear Learners,
Thank you for Logging in! You're wonderful!😊

Note: Content written in blue should be recorded as notes in the Biology Notebook.

At the end of this class, you will be able to:
1. Describe the different parts of the Hindbrain.
2. Explain the Peripheral nervous system and autonomous nervous system.

Happy Learning!😊

Hind Brain

It has three distinct regions:

A. CEREBELLUM
It maintains the posture and the balance of the body. It is associated with body equilibrium. It helps us to walk in a straight line, ride a bicycle, pick up a pen, etc.

B. MEDULLA OBLANGATA
It extends behind in the form of the spinal cord. It controls swelling, coughing, sneezing, helps regulate breathing, heart, and blood vessel function, etc.

C. PONS
It is present just above the medulla oblongata. It controls the rate of respiration, sleep, swallowing, facial expression, eye movement.

SPINAL CORD

It extends along the backbone and is protected in it. It has the main role in a reflex action.

PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM (PNS)

1. It has 12 pairs of nerves coming from the brain called CRANIAL NERVES (communicating through the brain).
2. It includes 31 pairs of nerves coming from the spinal cord known as SPINAL NERVES (communicating with the spinal cord).
3. These nerves coming from the brain and the spinal cord controls all te activities and thus are responsible for voluntary activities of the brain.

AUTOMATIC NERVOUS SYSTEM (ANS)

It regulates the function of internal organs that are not under our control. e.g. Lungs, Heart, Stomach, Kidney, etc.

Assignment

  • Complete your Notes.
  • Read pg. no. 119 till IQ.
  • Try IQ on pg. 119.
I hope it helped!
